The most treasured heirlooms are the sweet memories of our family that we pass down to our children
As each day passes and my boys get bigger I find the need to stop and just look at them. Kiss them. Squeeze them. Breath in their smell. I know that tomorrow or next week and most certainly next year I will have forgotten what these moments feel like. To hold my chubby 8 month old in my arms and tickle his nose with mine leading him into fits of laughter. These are things I want to remember. I want to pause time and remember them exactly as they are right now. The truth is that no matter how hard I try to ingrain that smile or ridiculous laughter into my memory, I know that it will fade. As a professional family portraits photographer I get to create timeless pieces of artwork.
I create an opportunity for you to hold onto and treasure your family memories forever. Memories alone are simply just not enough though. That is why I have the best job in the world. Photography is my outlet, it allows me to take care of all my memories and in a way, relive them. A picture really is worth a thousand words!
My inspiration:
Since I was a little girl, my mum always took lots of photographs and was always amazing at developing the film and displaying them in our home. Her home is still lined with old photographs and memories. I still love looking through old albums and boxes of photos. To this day she still makes albums for every holiday, event or just because.
Last week, I found my 2.5-year-old sitting on my mums living room floor quietly flicking through an old family album. I sat with him and told him stories of my childhood, about my grandparents and family. I was passing on my memories. The memories these photographs had captured had long passed. It is amazing how one single image can tell an entire story and transport you right back in time. I could remember the happiness and joy from my childhood and the love that surrounded me. It is my turn to preserve my children’s memories so that they too can hand it down to their children and beyond.
